COCO SONG: NEW 2018 COMMUNICATION CAMPAIGN

 

 

The new communication campaign of Coco Song, a famous eyewear brand known all over the world for its inspiration based on oriental contents, colors and atmospheres, is a true hymn to femininity in all its forms.

 

The protagonists of the new shots are the colors and the reference to the natural world, to directly evoke the same elements that have made the success of Coco Song over the years. The “fil rouge” of the collection are the bold and brilliant colors, which are found in the silks and natural inserts of the frame, passing through the eyes and lips of the photographed woman, up to the colorful feathers of the moving bird in the foreground. These innovative color combinations light up the look of the Coco Song woman, allowing her to give voice to her individuality with determination and refinement. They are perfect for those who love to dare and are searching for an exuberant look.

 

The flight of the little bird, represented in the new image in an authentic explosion of colors, is itself an emblem of elegance and freedom, recalling the feathers and other natural elements that have always characterized Coco Song glasses. Area98 welcomes the new Coco Song collection, a famous eyewear brand known all over the world for its inspiration drawn from oriental contents, colors and atmospheres.

 

The precious elements that have always distinguished the brand – silks, dried flowers, feathers – are combined with exclusive acetates and innovative color combinations to create highly refined frames, made entirely by hand for the most eclectic personalities. Semi-precious-turquoise stones, white howlite, malachite, lapis lazuli and tiger’s eye – blend in with chiseled metal decorations that recall the symbolism of the ancient oriental dynasties, in an imaginary journey among distant and mysterious countries.

 

The Crystal Trouble model stands out for its elegant lines and vibrant touches of color. Beautiful feathers blend harmoniously with pure silk inserts, while stones embedded in symbols of longevity create a game of surprising sophistication on the temples.

 

Delicate and with clean lines, the Just Illusion model is designed for the most refined personalities: the enameled decorations displayed on the temples, symbol of prosperity, present bold and elegant colors that reflect the nuances of feathers and silk.

 

A square shape and a thin profile for the Morning Blues model, dedicated to those looking for simplicity and style in every detail. The nuances of silk, soft and clean, are embellished with geometric decorations of colored stones that evoke prosperity, set on the temples.

 

Intriguing and passionate, the Love Please model seduces with its plays of color and the powerful symbolism of the temples: two dragons, imperial symbols of strength and good fortune which, with their sinuous lines, give dynamism to the frame.

COCO SONG AWARD:

PRESENTATION OF THE PROTOTYPES MADE BY THE FINALIST STUDENTS

 

 

The official presentation of the prototypes created by the finalists of the first edition of the Coco Song Award was held in the exclusive Radicepura park in Giarre (Catania). The competition, which was sponsored by Area98 in collaboration with Harim Accademia Euromediterranea, offered talented young designers the opportunity to give their own interpretation of the famous Coco Song collection.

 

The four finalists – Selene Cassarino, Roberta L’Episcopo, Carla Vinci and Davide Mazzaglia – plus Rossella Leanza (who had previously not made it to the finals but has been given another chance after Roberta Pinna’s project unfortunately turned out to be unfeasible) undertook a distance internship with Area98, during which they were assisted in the production of a prototype of a colour variant of the sunglasses that they designed, which was then unveiled at the Academy’s year-end fashion shows.

 

The students were delighted that after months of work, they were finally able to see the fruit of their artistic imagination. The company was also extremely enthusiastic about the development of the project. Elisio Tessaro, Art Director and Marketing Manager of the Coco Song brand, commented: “The finalist students put an extraordinary amount of work into the project, thanks in part to the support of the teachers at Harim, and it is also a great pleasure for us to see them achieve so much. The ideas devised by these young, original minds have reassured us that Coco Song still has a long creative history that is yet to be written and also that we can take the company in new, different directions.” The project generated numerous ideas: from the use of alternative materials such as bamboo and high-quality types of paper, to new decorations and details such as embroidery to add to the silks already used in the collection, to the development of unusual, original forms.

 

The finalist projects will be evaluated for their level of uniqueness, wearability and merchantability, as well as for their alignment to the brand’s reference target and the overall quality of the product from its design to its creation.

The winner of the Coco Song Award will be named by 9 October 2017 at Silmo and Area98 will produce the winning glasses, giving due credit to their designer, who will sign the project. Tessaro adds: “We will probably also include other projects that made a particular impression on us in this limited edition. Without doubt the success of this competition – including in the media and among our clients – has made us determined to follow up on this initiative, so we are already exploring possible development ideas.”

COCO SONG: A JOURNEY INTO THE FAR EAST,
AMONGST CLASSICAL INSPIRATION AND MODERN REVIVAL

Area98 welcomes the new Coco Song collection, the famous eyewear brand known around the world for its inspiration from the Far East.

The precious elements that have always distinguished the collection – such as silk, dried flowers, feathers and other natural inserts – are combined with exclusive acetates and innovative colour combinations designed for the new season, resulting in highly refined frames, made entirely by hand for the woman who wants to feel unique. Semi-precious stones – turquoise, white howlite, malachite, lapis lazuli and tiger eye – blend with chiseled metal decorations which recall the symbolism of ancient oriental dynasties, in an imaginary journey through distant and mysterious lands.

The Carry On and Nobody Away models stand out thanks to their colour contrasts and decorative details. In the first proposal a delicate feather rests on silk among the layers of acetate of the front and temples, while beautiful dried flowers adorn the frame on the second. Both models are complemented by semi-precious stones or enamelled metal plaques inserted into the frames.

The temples of the Excited Evening model show off a semi-precious stone set in an enamelled decoration with two dragons, an elegant symbol of strength and good fortune that completes this finely crafted frame. The same inspiration is found in the Beautiful Thing model, which presents a fresher and lighter decoration however: a detail in two-tone enamelled metal that evokes the scales of the imperial dragon and gives a refined exotic flavour to the frame.

Area98 announces the debut of its new CCS by Coco Song line, a fresh and versatile proposal designed to seduce a young female target that is attentive to trends but with a simple and romantic soul.

While taking some of the elements that have been the success of Coco Song, the new CCS by Coco Song models abandon the oriental inspiration and find their own distinctive characteristics in the absence of decorations and innovative chromatic experimentation. The natural elements that have always distinguished the Coco Song brand- such as silk, dried flowers and feathers – are now laminated into new crystalline and transparent acetates or pearl colours: the result is a line of much lighter frames both with regard to colour and to the fresh and bright style, which is ideal for a young audience looking for an easy-to-wear accessory with a contemporary look without sacrificing style.

Brightness and brio define the CCS by Coco Song designs, which are inspired by the natural world of flowers, playing with the vivid and intense tones of pink, red, orange, purple, green, and blue. COCO SONG AWARD:
ANNOUNCED THE FIVE FINALISTS OF THE TALENTED YOUNG DESIGNERS COMPETITION

The names have finally been revealed of the five finalists of the first edition of the Coco Song Award, a competition sponsored by Area98 in collaboration with the Harim Accademia Euromediterranea to offer young design talents a chance to give their own interpretation of the celebrated Coco Song collection.

“Zhe Zhi” by Selene Cassarino, “Dissect” by Roberta L’Episcopo, “Roots” by Roberta Pinna, “Bambusa” by Carla Vinci and “Cloud” by Davide Mazzaglia are the projects destined for the Coco Song sunglasses line and which have been admitted to the final. The jury – composed of members of Area98’s Executive Board, Gabriella Ferrera, President of the Harim Academia Euromediterranea, business partners from the principal markets in which Area98 operates and representatives of the eyewear industry press – has expressed its opinion by means of an evaluation board directed at analysing not only the degree of innovation and the aesthetic and emotional value of the projects, but also the level of inspiration taken from the collection’s strengths and the actual feasibility of the proposals.

The five student finalists will embark on a distance internship with Area98, during which they will be accompanied in the creation of an eyewear prototype in the planned colour variant. The winning student of the Coco Song Award will be named by October 9, 2017 at Silmo.

COCO SONG – THE CHARM OF THE CELESTIAL EMPIRE

A dip into the Far East with its colours, symbols and opulence. The magic of distant and mysterious lands takes shape in these exquisitely elegant frames, made entirely by hand with precious and exclusive materials: silk, feathers, dried flowers and semi-precious stones such as turquoise, lapis lazuli, white howlite and tiger’s eye. The inserts, engraved in metal recall the symbolism of ancient oriental dynasties and become real jewels for the chic and sensual woman.

Each frame is hand made and unique, making it a masterpiece of craftsmanship and refinement. One example is the Known Place model. The tone of these broad and square frames is defined by silk and feathers inserted into the eyewear itself. Like a precious amulet adorning the temples, with gems of semi-precious stones framed by metal décor.

As its name suggests, the romantic inspiration of an imperial garden is at the forefront in the New Romantic model: the full tones of black, red, blue and purple silk have small dried herbs applied to them with contrasting colours embellished with a metal decor reminiscent of peach blossom and the symbol of the nation of the Rising Sun.

All the shades of distant lands can be seen on the Wild Dream model too. Its wide front and slightly cat-eye is combined with temples with feathers and triangular cut semi-precious stones set like the seals of an old lady.

The collection is completed with a few models that are also proposed in a more minimal version, such as Blues Lesson in which only silk and feathers appear. A frame that expresses the personality of Coco Song through contrasting colours and elegant and refined materials, although more sober.

PROMOTING YOUNG DESIGN TALENT

Coco Song promotes design. Area98 – owner of the exclusive brand in collaboration with the Harim Accademia Euromediterranea – has announced the first edition of the Coco Song Award, an internal competition dedicated to Academy students offering young talent the opportunity of giving their own interpretation of the Coco Collection Song.

Known around the world for its inspiration from the Far East and its innovative use of precious materials such as silks, flowers, feathers and other natural inserts that are skilfully rolled into the frame, Coco Song is looking to the future by opening up to new colours, shapes and combinations of materials. And this is the challenge offered to the Harim Accademia Euromediterranea’s students of Fashion Design, Jewellery Design and Accessories and Interior & Product Design: to introduce new creative elements into the collection, starting from those characteristics which have become the crowing glory of the brand, whilst reinterpreting them with maximum freedom of expression. Proposals from the young talents will be destined for the Coco Song sunglasses line.

Designs will be evaluated on their ability to combine creative value and innovation with inspiration for the collection’s strongpoints, as well as to the feasibility of the proposal.

The Jury – composed of members of the Area98 Executive board, teachers from Harim Academia Euromediterranea, client opticians from the main markets in which Area98 operates together with representatives from the eyewear industry press – will select five finalists, who will be notified by February 27, 2017 at the MIDO eyewear show. The five students will then embark on a distance internship with Area98, during which they will also have the opportunity of visiting the company’s headquarters in Pavia di Udine, and will be accompanied in the creation of the prototype of the their eyewear colour variant design. The winning student of the Coco Song Award will be named by October 9, 2017 at the Silmo Trade Fair.
