COCO SONG – THE CHARM OF THE CELESTIAL EMPIRE

A dip into the Far East with its colours, symbols and opulence. The magic of distant and mysterious lands takes shape in these exquisitely elegant frames, made entirely by hand with precious and exclusive materials: silk, feathers, dried flowers and semi-precious stones such as turquoise, lapis lazuli, white howlite and tiger’s eye. The inserts, engraved in metal recall the symbolism of ancient oriental dynasties and become real jewels for the chic and sensual woman.

Each frame is hand made and unique, making it a masterpiece of craftsmanship and refinement. One example is the Known Place model. The tone of these broad and square frames is defined by silk and feathers inserted into the eyewear itself. Like a precious amulet adorning the temples, with gems of semi-precious stones framed by metal décor.

As its name suggests, the romantic inspiration of an imperial garden is at the forefront in the New Romantic model: the full tones of black, red, blue and purple silk have small dried herbs applied to them with contrasting colours embellished with a metal decor reminiscent of peach blossom and the symbol of the nation of the Rising Sun.

All the shades of distant lands can be seen on the Wild Dream model too. Its wide front and slightly cat-eye is combined with temples with feathers and triangular cut semi-precious stones set like the seals of an old lady.

The collection is completed with a few models that are also proposed in a more minimal version, such as Blues Lesson in which only silk and feathers appear. A frame that expresses the personality of Coco Song through contrasting colours and elegant and refined materials, although more sober.

BARBERINI EYEWEAR: A NEW LIMITED EDITION AT MIDO

It’s the eve of a new era: Barberini Eyewear’s collection has been enriched with new shades inspired by the reflections of the sky.

Two new lenses will be presented at Mido: created as always in Platinum Glass ™ and provided with Rare Earth Elements and UV400 protection, both of them vibrate with absolute reflections: facing the spectacle of light tinting the sky, gold and pink blend like the sea at sunset, while the blue of the twilight merges with the green reflections of the dance of the Northern Lights.

Frames to this spectacle of lights are two new limited edition variants of the Voyager (BR160707 and BR160708), in a deluxe version enriched by leather trim framing the ciliary on the front. Recherche et qualité des matériaux, soin du détail et design sous le signe de la perfection et de la beauté : voilà les traits distinctifs de Robert Rüdger, la marque de lunettes produite par Area98 et née de la collaboration entre le célèbre designer Rudi Himmelfreundpointner et Elisio Tessaro, Directeur Artistique de l’entreprise.

Fidèle à l’ADN et à l’inspiration de la marque, la nouvelle collection est sophistiquée et extrêmement actuelle : des modèles de lunettes qui comme toujours recèlent des détails technologiques et de style, et s’imposent comme de véritables chef-d’œuvres.
Caractérisées par des lignes épurées et des teintes sobres, les nouvelles montures jouent avec les matériaux et les épaisseurs, donnant ainsi naissance à des propositions raffinées uniques en leur genre. A côté des matériaux de qualité supérieure qui distinguent la marque depuis toujours – le bois, la corne, le titane et la fibre de carbone – nous retrouvons l’HDCA (Hard Density Cellulose Acetate), une formule d’acétate innovante, exclusive et particulièrement légère caractérisée par une structure moléculaire plus dense qui confère aux lunettes une plus grande résistance et flexibilité, permettant enfin des conceptions plus fines et un confort remarquable.
Certaines montures arborent des formes larges et carrées mais associées à des épaisseurs réduites qui assurent légèreté, tandis que d’autres privilégient des lignes douces et arrondies d’inspiration vintage.

Pont en clé et face en acétate HDCA pour cette monture carrée large RR043 qui se distingue pour la coupe singulière de la branche mise en relief par des couleurs brillantes et en contraste.

Ne manquent naturellement pas les propositions en titane, comme par exemple l’élégant modèle RR044. Le profilé fin et les lignes épurées assurent un look élégant et sobre, frais et actuel grâce à l’emploi du bicolore. Le modèle est également disponible en version solaire avec verres effet miroir couleur or.

Pour le professionnel qui aime se démarquer avec style il existe le modèle RR045, une monture carrée entièrement en corne, enrichie d’un fin profilé en titane qui dessine la partie supérieure de la face. Le modèle est disponible en trois gradations de couleur en fonction des nuances naturelles du matériau.


ROBERT RÜDGER | Vers la fin des années 1980, trois designers autrichiens affirmés – Robert Hüttmann, Rudi Himmelfreundpointner et Gerhard Lahner – forts de leur expérience acquise dans la création de collections de lunettes pour de célèbres marques de mode, voient la nécessité d’apporter un changement radical dans leur vie créative et dans le panorama de la lunetterie de l’époque. Dans cette intention ils fondent en 1989 la marque Robert Rüdger en créant absolument du jamais vu jusque là sur le marché: la première marque de montures optiques totalement made in Austria.
Les collections Robert Rüdger font immédiatement sensation grâce aux couleurs extravagantes des montures fabriquées en acétate associé au métal. Les teintes excentriques assorties à des formes facilement portables contribuent à accroître rapidement le succès de ces lunettes made in Austria sur les marchés allemand, suisse et hollandais. Dès 2004 la marque passe totalement aux mains de Rudi Himmelfreundpointner. C’est justement avec lui qu’en 2014 Area98 signe un accord de licence d’une durée de vingt ans pour la marque Robert Rüdger, dont la société gèrera, en collaboration étroite avec l’illustre Himmelfreundpointner, le design, la production et la distribution à l’international.

FYSH UK Heats Up Spring with its 2017 Sunwear Collection

Drawing on FYSH UK’s strong use of color, the 2017 sunwear collection features a mix of styling that captures today’s eyewear trends in bold, colorful hues. Boasting 11 new models, each available in 3 colorways, FYSH UK sun 2017 focuses on the hottest shapes, from oversized cat eye and squares to sleek aviators. All models feature 6-base, CR-39 lenses to ensure easy adaptation to prescription sunwear.
Links Collection: F-2009, F-2010, F-2011

Building on the popular Links collection launched in 2016, FYSH UK adds three new sunwear models for 2017. The cornerstone of the Links collection is a metal insert with a delicate chain link pattern that is inlayed and wrapped around richly hued acetate fronts.

Model F-2009 is an oversized rounded square silhouette constructed of handmade translucent acetate with a pattern inspired by soft, frothy layers of tulle. The metal insert gently wraps around the front profile adding an extra element to the design. The colors are soft, yet rich in tone in a color palette of Brown, Berry and Aqua.

Model F-2010 adds a modern twist to its wayfarer inspired shape with an on-trend dropped bridge. The metal insert compliments the abstract, smoky pattern in the handmade acetate while the oversized eye shape gives an edge to the minimalistic design. The color palette includes Grey Ash, Brown Ash and Teal Ash.

The feminine butterfly shape of model F-2011 is the perfect backdrop for the watercolor inspired pattern of the handmade acetate. The metal insert highlights the front bevel adding an additional element to the design. F-2011 is available in fluid tones of Peacock Brown, Peacock Cobalt and Peacock Berry.

Exotic Glam: F-2018 and F-2019

Drawing inspiration from the ’90s, models F-2018 and F-2019 take us back to the glam looks of the past with sleek metal frames wrapped in leather. F-2018 is a modern aviator with a flattering, slim silhouette, while F-2019 screams modern glam with an oversized square front. An integrated spring hinge keeps the look clean, sleek and comfortable. Adding a rock and roll, exotic edge to these models is the custom leather that is wrapped around the front which highlights the gold or silver metal. Key colorways include Black Boa Silver, Camel Gold, Black Silver and Brown Boa Gold.

Color Blocking: F-2012, F-2013, F-2014, F-2016

Color blocking continues to be one of the hottest trends this season, both in fashion and eyewear. Achieved by a new, patented process that raises the second layer of acetate to the front, the rich 2-tone color blocking on these styles provides a unique layered look.

Available in a 2-tone wood inspired color palette of Black Mahogany, Blue Maple and Brown Oak, the square shape of model F-2012 and the flirty cat eye shape of model F-2013 are accentuated by the pushed acetate that creates a highlighted effect along the edges and front of the frames.

The bold square shape of model F-2014 features more subtle color blocking that combines solid tones and marbled hues. Available in a rich color palette of Black Marble, Burgundy Marble and Brown Marble, model F-2014 is classic elegance.

The rounded shape of model F-2016 is highlighted by linear color blocking on the front of the frame. Smokey transparent hues are seamlessly joined on solid fronts providing for an effect that is similar to backlighting. Lacy Details: F-2015, F-2017
With an oversized cat eye shape, model F-2015 is inspired by the fabulous ’50s. F-2015 is made from handmade acetate and features a translucent lace pattern on the front and temples that creates an extremely feminine and refined look. F-2015 is available in rich hues including Black Lace, Brown Lace and Cobalt Lace.

A highlight of the FYSH UK Sun 2017 collection is style F-2017. A sexy, oversized cat-eye shape is brought to life with shimmery, translucent acetate with interwoven metallic thread. Coupled with a stainless steel bridge and temples, F-2017 is the quintessential example of the mixed material trend. 3 000 mètres d’altitude, un paysage à couper le souffle et un climat extrême.
C’est l’Etna, le plus grand volcan actif d’Europe, à faire de toile de fond à la nouvelle campagne de communication Blackfin, un set naturel, magique et insolite, parfaitement en ligne avec l’ADN de la marque de lunettes qui écrit son histoire loin des stéréotypes classiques de la communication.
Un territoire hostile, où on teste et dépasse ses limites. La rugosité du terrain, le climat, l’altitude et les difficultés environnementales incitent à se regarder dedans et à transmettre davantage la valeur et la signification de Blackfin, une signification qui va au-delà d’une monture et qui implique profondément ceux qui la porte et les personnes qui la réalisent.

THE COCO SONG AWARD:
AREA98 TOGETHER WITH HARIM ACCADEMIA EUROMEDITERRANEA
PROMOTING YOUNG DESIGN TALENT

Coco Song promotes design. Area98 – owner of the exclusive brand in collaboration with the Harim Accademia Euromediterranea – has announced the first edition of the Coco Song Award, an internal competition dedicated to Academy students offering young talent the opportunity of giving their own interpretation of the Coco Collection Song.

Known around the world for its inspiration from the Far East and its innovative use of precious materials such as silks, flowers, feathers and other natural inserts that are skilfully rolled into the frame, Coco Song is looking to the future by opening up to new colours, shapes and combinations of materials. And this is the challenge offered to the Harim Accademia Euromediterranea’s students of Fashion Design, Jewellery Design and Accessories and Interior & Product Design: to introduce new creative elements into the collection, starting from those characteristics which have become the crowing glory of the brand, whilst reinterpreting them with maximum freedom of expression. Proposals from the young talents will be destined for the Coco Song sunglasses line.

Designs will be evaluated on their ability to combine creative value and innovation with inspiration for the collection’s strongpoints, as well as to the feasibility of the proposal.

The Jury – composed of members of the Area98 Executive board, teachers from Harim Academia Euromediterranea, client opticians from the main markets in which Area98 operates together with representatives from the eyewear industry press – will select five finalists, who will be notified by February 27, 2017 at the MIDO eyewear show. The five students will then embark on a distance internship with Area98, during which they will also have the opportunity of visiting the company’s headquarters in Pavia di Udine, and will be accompanied in the creation of the prototype of the their eyewear colour variant design. The winning student of the Coco Song Award will be named by October 9, 2017 at the Silmo Trade Fair.

« We are really excited about this new project,” said Elisio Tessaro, Art Director and Marketing Manager of Area98 “and we are sure that the Coco Song Award will be a unique opportunity both for us and for the students. Area98 has always been synonymous with creativity and freedom to experiment, and through this initiative we are looking for young talent driven by the desire to express themselves. The only rule is to respect the brand identity: So this is a green light for the imagination!  »
